I don’t have kids but regardless family of my own or just the Fozzie’s Uncertainty Principle The Punch;ine Beaker’s Formula for Marvelous Discoveries T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this bachelor life, I still rather work less, make less money, have more vacation days, have more time a week to enjoy my life and also not have to worry about being poor from a medical emergency. I personally wouldn’t want to start a family in America. It’s probably the easiest place in the world to get in debt. It’s not only in US and pretty much goes for all other countries, even in my country. Maybe the term ‘Professional’ speaks volumes. I work in tech and I’m paid well. I’m also one critical illness away from financial ruin lmao. It’s more nuanced than that, but taking broad brushstrokes that can explain the discrepancy. I cant speak for Europe but only in America will someone like me that joined a company 12 years ago and was able to grow through the ranks and grow my yearly income to close to 200k. No pensions over here my man, gotta make bank during the employment years to carry you through the retirement years. Malcolm Gladwell gave a great talk as to why high skilled workers started making more money than the worker class. In the USA most are a single health issue, car issue, or family issue away from poverty. The “extra” money we appear to have gets vacuumed for any slight.

Other countries have more social support. Not the Fozzie’s Uncertainty Principle The Punch;ine Beaker’s Formula for Marvelous Discoveries T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this entire story by any means but I just need to clarify most Americans live a step from collapse. You just don’t think about it. Los Angeles is increasingly being overrun by homeless. Having a huge salary in silicon valley is like middle class. They had to change street and parking laws so people could cheat the system and had to pay the local rates. Productivity: US workers have access to better technology (think Silicon Valley), capital (think Wall Street), and innovative ideas (think Google, Amazon, and Tesla). Therefore, they are able to produce more per hour of work and are able to be paid more by businesses. Finally, let’s not forget hours worked. Especially for high level positions, American put in A LOT more hours than Europeans do (this is doubly true if they are an exempt employee.) Flexible Employment: Most employees in the US are at-will. This means that they can be let go at anytime or have job responsibilities changed at anytime, which is why employers are more willing to hire and take chances in the US than in Europe. In Europe, people have written contracts, which would have to be renegotiated either with them or with a union. This provides a level of security for employees, which make them less likely to move around. In the US, people change companies every 2 years and get 20% raises each time. In other words, people are compensated more for the additional risk of potentially being let go. (Think about it like this, working in the private sector in Europe is like working for the Federal Gov in the US when it comes to job security.)
