In this way, they were able to keep the For hayden christensen as anakin skywalker in ahsoka Star wars movie shirt Besides,I will do this support of both centrist conservatives, who weren’t bigoted or at least didn’t wish to be seen as such, and also their more socially conservative base, who wore their bigotries proudly on their hoods. This worked pretty well for them, until in 2008 a white Republican war veteran lost the presidential election to a Black man. This basically dissolved the silent pact to maintain the veil of respectability, and instead, the bigots began to throw more and more support behind party members who were open about their prejudices. The Republican party has moved even further to the Right in terms of social conservativism and regression, is openly hostile to any and all minorities, including homosexuals, and has even attempted an armed coup of the nation’s capital when they didn’t get their way in the latest election.

So that’s why there’s open hostility towards homosexuals in the For hayden christensen as anakin skywalker in ahsoka Star wars movie shirt Besides,I will do this US. Because apparently a lot of citizens are hostile to homosexuals. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the formerly closeted bigots who have decided to wave their Nazi flags proudly. The signs some people were carrying at – I dunno, is protests the right word? – but fully unveiled racism even then. (Google “Obama witch doctor” and be ready to take a shower.) But yeah, that’s when they began to feel empowered enough to crawl out of the rat holes during broad daylight. This question is complex and not as cut and dry as “its the republicans fault” so I’ll try to share my two cents; The vast majority of the US population has historically been either indifferent or ardently opposed to LGBT rights / issues. This is not a new thing, and if you don’t live in a major city, it is likely still the norm. If it feels amplified recently, thats because it has. The Internet / Social media has obviously played a massive role in this cultural shift – but so has politics and media as well as the expected cultural pushback that occurs when a civilization has its traditional identity, culture & values reckoned with. All these factors and more, feed into each other creating the political climates we see today. A lot of it is emotional manipulation (with the help of social media and its algorithms), but some of it unfortunately human nature. As for the specific boycotts your post mentioned. Those stem from those same base emotions of fear and anxiety – however I would argue that there is more to the picture. Yes, much of it stems from run of the mill anti LGBT sentiment, but its also a mixture of disdain for performative ally-ship and the commodification of things like sexual identity and pride, which force identity politics into the mainstream in way that is fundamentally different, and more alienating, than when a individual or celebrity or even politician injects their views into the broader public discourse.
