I just explained the Fluff You You Fluffin’ Fluff Cow shirt in contrast I will get this period situation to my 9 year old the other day and she said I ruined her childhood and probably her life. Fun. As a single father to a 9 year old I honestly have no clue what I’m even getting into or how to address this. It’s going to be a shitshow. Better figure it out soon, I got my period when I was 10. Really better to tell them in advance so they don’t think they’re dying. I got mine 2 weeks after 10th birthday so yeah probably should bring it up (along with hormones and puberty in general) Didnt you learn about that topic in biology class? We learned the important things about puberty, sexuality and birth of Babies in 3rd Grade, when most of us were about 9 years old. It was made especially for young kids. A little vague and very technical. But no girl was surprised by her first period and thought it would die. Similar in Ireland, they have a specific subject for it and it covers everything from washing yourself to how female and male organs work. My kids were so comfortable with it they talked openly about it. I have boys but they still asked about periods and how I manage. Here in Poland it was the same. I don’t think any parent had to do much explaing (if the kids payed some attention in biology class). Actually it’s not. They have classes in my area of the US where they address these things. The class also includes talking about their feelings, how to communicate effectively, etc. They have a licensed counselor running the program and even have a therapy dog. This is a public school also. They do it once a week for each class in each grade.

The you are lucky, I did not Sex-Ed in school bevore we where 12 or 13. And even then boys and women got separated. So boys never got teached about periods. We got an other Sex-Ed Clas when we where around 16-17, that was the Fluff You You Fluffin’ Fluff Cow shirt in contrast I will get this one where they talked about condoms, but for a lot of students that was obviously to late.. And even in this later Sex-Ed class boys and girls got separated… With 16 i knew nothing about periods and it only changed becaus I got one gf that openly talked about it to me. Yeah my teacher told people in freshman year if anyone got pregnant she had to report statutory rape whether they consented or not and 3 girls still got pregnant and I believe kept the babies. It was kinda sad but I also watched them laugh at the teachers warning so it’s hard to feel bad
