That job might be producing $10000 per hour, but if the owner can hire someone for $13 then they will pocket ALL the profit. and they will fight to keep their profit margins hidden so that $13 / hour person doesn’t realize they are getting screwed. Raising the minimum wage is the only way to make a more fair and equitable life for people. Keeping it low just means higher profits and less working together. It just means one group of people holds way to much power over others. And it just means the government has to pitch in more tax dollars to support those poor people the companies are failing to support.

They want to help and they take intuitive approaches to problems (just make it the law so that people have more money). It doesn’t work because the economy isn’t a static system and the participants aren’t like blocks on a board to be moved around. It’s a complex system based on a balance of finite resources and moving parts are people who act in ways you didn’t/couldn’t predict when you push a policy. I think its silly to double minimum wage country wide. Im all for raising it but 15 is excessive, this is coming from a guy who makes less then that. Making it 10 is much more reasonable. The problem isn’t a min wage. The problem is when you personally fail to speak up and ask for more or dont quit, or do not start your own business.
