I’d spend whatever it takes to buy comfortable hiking shoes/boots. Shoes are a hard ask everywhere that isn’t here. If you reach a country with relatively secure postal systems — Taiwan for instance — THAT is when you ship things home. I don’t think you need to buy that stuff. Buy one small Thing like a magnet or postcard from your travels and take photos and you’re good. I would recommend not selling everything you own. Travel plans have a way of hitting weird snags, and it’s good to have SOMETHING to fall back on Well for example, when I want to come back. I would just get a brand new car and I have family I can crash with for a couple weeks while I find a either apartment with lease or month to month cheap place until I want to travel again. I don’t mean to sound so cynical, I also went on a trip last year because I needed to get out of a personal rut. I don’t regret it. But I took most of my savings for the Floral and bee count your fucking days shirt Besides,I will do this trip, had catastrophic car trouble on the other side of the country, and ended up spending most of my limited travel budget on a car so that I could keep going. It’s worth noting that no matter how well you plan, there’s always a possibility something unexepexted might completely derail your plans. So my advice is, just be sure you have backup plans in case something goes wrong. I will keep that noted. What made you want to get a car in another country? I was told to avoid purchasing transporting and just to use public and taxis, ex. Or renting bikes in SEA areas.
