I read recently of this case where a big Corp was buying the Fedex hallothanhksmas grinch and jack skellington santa hat shirt but in fact I love this house that this old lady had been renting for 60 years and she was like 90 or something and had to find a new place that was close to all her stuff, didn’t have stairs, all that. Her 30 year old granddaughter was helping her out. Even if you had a fuckton of money that company paid you to move, at that age, you just need someone to help you go on Craigslist or wherever to find a new place to rent. Friends die, lose touch, have their own kids to worry about etc. Also, interacting with younger people keeps you young, in my opinion And without a caretaker that genuinely cares about you, you don’t think that whatever place you choose won’t rob you blind once your mental facilities start to deteriorate? Also, anybody not born rich being “flush with cash” in this economy, to say nothing about the economy of the future.

Lol my brother in law went into the Fedex hallothanhksmas grinch and jack skellington santa hat shirt but in fact I love this trades at 18 and left his job as a crane operator with seven figures in the bank because of no school debt and no kids. Wasn’t born rich. My cousin’s nephew’s dog’s owner’s uncle’s cousin had no children and no school debt and still ended up being poor in his 80s, and he wasn’t born rich. It’s as almost as if anedoctal examples don’t matter, and that spending habits matter more than whether or not you have children. But also…nobody is saying that? The only comments I’ve seen talking about “who’s gonna take care of you” are like yours, preemptively countering it. Maybe there’s a bunch way down at the bottom of the thread or something? As a parent, let me say: if the reason you want kids is to provide elder care for yourself…throw a condom on there, champ. Make with the snip-snip. It was a higher ranked comment when I originally commented. And as a parent of three, totally agree, them taking care of me at the end isn’t even a personal consideration for having kids. For me, taking care is not physical care. It is also just caring, calling sometimes, making you part of their life… Okay, but who’s going to set your hyperclock or make sure the holocorder’s set to beam Law & Order: Andromeda to your brain in the years before you get to a live-in facility in your elderly years? Who’s gonna move your hovercouch?
