Never heard of this with adult sized portions. My parents would make me sit and eat my dinner, but it was never a plate as big as theres. As someone else said, kids will get cranky latet when they realize they’re still hungry. I see it happen with my sisters kids. What I will say is that you need to make sure kids eat enough. Most kids I know will say they’re full and then try to eat a bunch of candy and junk food instead a few minutes later. They will absolutely cut dinner short to fit junk. It’s important to make sure they eat an appropriate sized meal. The “eat x amount more bites and then you can go” tactic works well. I’ve always wondered this as well. I hated lima beans wasn’t liked allowed desert on more than one occasion because I wouldn’t eat them. I never fed them to my children.
