It wasn’t a nuclear threat. Just a ballistic missile warning. Small difference. But a regular nonnuclear missile would have triggered the Everyone you know will Die Shirt it is in the first place but same warning. I lived on Pearl Harbor (Hickam) when that happened. Our house was right near the places that would have been going bananas if a missile were actually incoming. We were 100 yards from a discreet building with a dozen communication dishes around it and across the street from PAC-AF and the flight line. We had neighbors who were in jobs that would have been alerted had something been happening. They said nothing was sent to them from work. It was a state employee who hit the wrong button. If you have interacted with Hawaii government employees before, I can 100% believe that uncle just hit the wrong key and nobody knew how to undo it because it was Saturday morning.

Everyone you know will Die Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

My sister lived in Hawaii when this happened. I talked to her and her (ex)husband after everything was cleared up and I just couldn’t imagine what that was like. She just called our mom asking what she needed to do, how to protect her kids, and my mom was entirely speechless. My brother in law told me he left work for home immediately and was driving 130+ mph and police weren’t stopping anyone. Yeah. I panicked. We tried to drive to the Everyone you know will Die Shirt it is in the first place but army hospital on the mountain because I worked there and it was huge and old and had thick concrete. Ran a couple lights, etc. by the time we got our twin toddlers packed up, got in the car and drove there, they were announcing it wasn’t real. A slightly frivolous example – after Madonna & Britney Spears kissed at some awards ceremony in the early 00s, Beyonce made some comments at the time which could be construed as mildly homophobic (citing her religious beliefs). More or less any mention of this has been scrubbed off the internet now and it’s quite difficult to find details of it. Her PR team worked overtime on that one.
