Edit 2: for the Elf The Masical Logo Shirt Besides,I will do this people asking why I’m worried I will be ‘incriminated’ if I tell my letting agents, it’s because we have known about the key for a long time and are only now deciding we don’t want him to have it due to his recent behaviour. It probably sounds stupid but we are young students approaching a large company and we aren’t entirely sure what our rights are (hence this post!) Also thanks for all the responses suggesting we change the locks – I should have mentioned this initially but we aren’t allowed to change the locks ourselves or else we would have already! I think the solution appears to be to talk to our letting agency but I’m dreading it as it will cause a lot of tension within our group if we get this guy in trouble. Idc at this point tho, just him him gone lol.You can change the locks quite easily. So long as you keep the old barrels so you can swap therm back in at the end of the tenancy, this is legal to do. However, under the circumstances the letting agency may be happy for the new locks to remain in situ – talk to the agency.

Go to a lock-shop and buy new barrels and keys. €20. Fit them yourself. I’ve done this in every place I’ve rented, as it says in all short hold assured tenancy agreements that the Elf The Masical Logo Shirt Besides,I will do this Landlord cannot enter without your permission. In this scenario, would it be valid to ask the letting agency to change the locks? It’s not their fault but it isn’t the current tenants either, and they need a safe place to live. Most of the time in the UK they are euro cylinder locks. It is typically one screw to change them. Asking the agency to do it is massive overkill. you are legally allowed to change the locks, just give spare keys back to the estate agent or wait till the end of your tenancy. Back in my student days, landlords would use a certain type of key type, that locksmiths wouldn’t copy without the valid paperwork. Back in my student days, landlords would use a certain type of key type, that locksmiths wouldn’t copy without the valid paperwork. Never been a student but had this with several landlords especially council ones, only thing is as of about 8 yrs ago, they won’t give you the paper work anymore to get a copy cut yourself, now you have to order one from them and they charge you 3-4 times what it cost to go to your local timpson or key cutters. Our Council give you paperwork. Just had one done last month, for my grans sheltered housing place as we needed more than the 3 keys they had.
