One fateful night, Edward’s seclusion came to an end when Peg Boggs, a kind-hearted Avon lady, stumbled upon his castle-like abode. Recognizing his gentle nature beneath his formidable exterior, Peg took Edward home to live with her family. Intrigued and horrified by his scissor-like appendages, the townsfolk initially feared and ostracized Edward.

Amidst the prejudice, one person extended genuine compassion: Kim Boggs, Peg’s teenage daughter. As they spent time together, Kim saw beyond Edward’s physical differences and discovered a sensitive and poetic soul. Their unlikely bond blossomed into a tentative romance.

However, tragedy struck on a moonlit night. As Edward attempted to carve an ice sculpture for Kim, his scissor-hands accidentally injured her boyfriend, Jim. The subsequent chaos and fear sent the townsfolk into a frenzy. They pursued Edward with pitchforks and torches, forcing him to flee into the snowy wilderness.
