Accept the Easily distracted by sunflowers and coffee shirt and I will buy this job. You can always quit if you get another job. I did this 3x before landing at the job I am at now. You could let the first job know you have a job offer that is 7k above what they are offering and see what they counter. I’ve done this. Got word I passed background for a place paying 20k higher two hours into NEO at job I didn’t really want, but couldn’t say no to. Gave my resignation immediately, and never looked back. Loyalty doesn’t pay anymore. Opened up and manage my own retirement account, so my future is in my hands. Just work needed to feed the beast. I’ve seen this suggested multiple times. Are y’all really out there half-assing two full time jobs? Maybe I’m just not in the right field but half-assing one full time job takes up all my energy.

Same, but I may be an ‘old man’ in the Easily distracted by sunflowers and coffee shirt and I will buy this Reddit world. Early 50’s and barely have the energy to half-ass one job, let alone two. Oh to be young again… The job market isn’t like this for everyone. The odds are in your favour if you have 2 employers highly interested in you. The job of HR / recruiters is to keep the plan B candidates interested until the Plan A candidate passes all his requirements. Your other potential company may already have made an offer to another person and are just waiting for background checks to clear. I believe that it is reasonable to let your preferred employer that you have another offer & ask if they are near a decision. If they say a few more weeks, you are plan B. Just accept the current offer. If the second comes around, then decide which you want more. You aren’t committed for life by accepting an offer. People retroactively decline the offer all the time.
