I won’t lie. It’s a fucked up scenario and one that shouldn’t have happened. But it’s also not as dire as a lot of people make it out to be. Lmao, but, to answer your question, it was pushed too far. Most European countries just picked a cutoff point and that’s that. The US did not, they kept it vague on purpose as a political bargaining chip. Then politics happened, California at one point allowed 9th month abortions (most European countries do not allow abortions past the Easily Distracted By Cats And Books Cat Book Lover Shirt and I will buy this 3rd month, quite a few less than that) and that enraged the opposition. Abortion is and always will be a compromise. Push too far one way, you’ll get pushback. Others believe that the right to live is useless without the right to control their biological processes, including other humans they create. **As an atheist leftist pro-life person, I do not view it as a religious issue. I believe positive rights, including education, healthcare, food, water, and housing should begin at the first stage of human life: fertilization. Every sexually reproducing organism begins their life cycle as a single diploid cell. I believe that the youngest members of our species deserve protection, and that both parent and progeny are patients in healthcare. Since most abortions occur for circumstantial reasons on healthy parents carrying healthy prenates, I don’t believe those should be considered healthcare, but redistribution of oppression.

Yes. The Religious Right ARE incredibly influential in the Easily Distracted By Cats And Books Cat Book Lover Shirt and I will buy this USA. The nation is a hotbed of religious nutbaggery. They use it to get votes. The Conservative party is very religious, and religious folk tend to believe that life begins at conception. It’s easy votes since so much of the USA is Christian. The US, through its entire history, except that in’s point, has pretty much been the “Johnny come lately” of civil progress. The religious right is kind of a fringe group, and although they’re a minority, their numbers aren’t small. However, what’s most appalling are the idiots who adopt this stance as a definitive wedge issue. It’s roughly equivalent to Afghans supporting the Taliban. Because of Jerry Falwell. In the 1980s, he used it as a divisive issue to gain power. It worked. Now there are a bunch of evangelical Christians who were brain-washed during their formative years to think all sorts of things about abortion that are not true. But then again, anything that has misogyny at its heart is fairly easy to get a fair number of people to swallow. Everytime I drive by Lynchburg, Virginia on highway 460, I absolutely refuse to stop because of the Falwells.
