IMO whoever hired you screwed up or they underestimated how much training you would actually need.

As for them letting you go but asking for you back with 33% decrease in pay, that’s such a jerk move. Since you’re only a sophomore, you still have several opportunities to get another internship before graduation, and since you got this one as a sophomore, you must be doing something right. Check out Replit bounties, it’s like a mix of a web-browser-based IDE for many different programming languages, a collaboration platform, and a social media platform for computer programming. See if you could find a project there and learn more from working on one. Furthermore, you could connect and network with others on that platform as well.
