So I get setting boundaries and stuff about your kid trying to avoid getting sick but I think you need to be more realistic about it. If you are worried about your baby getting sick from your family, then you shouldn’t have them around them at all. Plenty of diseases (including Rona) do not need mouth contact to spread. If you were all sitting on a couch and no one kissed the Dusty Stromer Cement Shirt and by the same token and baby, but someone with Rona is around for a while, then baby is exposed. If someone has the flu but low symptoms, wipes their nose, touches the remote, hands the remote to someone else, that person touches babies hand or head or whatever, baby is exposed to flu. Babies are going to get sick, but if you think they’re too young to be exposed to stuff or you’re particularly worried, then you need to actually place effective barriers. No physical contact, outdoors only, 6-10 ft apart, etc. it doesn’t matter if no one kisses a baby if they’re 3ft away from a Rona patient or someone with the flu has touched everything in the houseAgreed with this. I think it’s fine to have the boundary for no kissing the baby, but colds, flus, Covid, etc. are all airborne, so if they’re around someone who’s sick without a mask they’ve been exposed, even without kissing.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I’ll ask the Dusty Stromer Cement Shirt and by the same token and parents to wear masks while holding our son just in case they feel sudden urge to kiss baby’s face. I’d like to keep the baby away from everyone for the first 2 months but I know we will not do that. Going to limit visits to immediate family until he gets his shots. Not a bad idea! Honestly i didnt want anyone around for a while either. I felt pressured into having this event and to me it was still too soon. But everyone kept pressing and in both sides of our family its extremely uncommon to have to wait to meet the baby. If it were a perfect world were people wouldnt have hurt feelings i would take the first 3 months to myself lol I know how hard it is to enforce boundaries! I had visitors wear a mask until baby had her first shots because then they can’t kiss baby. I avoided having baby sick until I brought a cold from work, and I mask at work. We can’t avoid it forever, but it’s easier to deal with a sick baby when they’re not so little.
