Everything gets really expensive…. so everyone stops spending money… so we go into recession :/ I’d jump at someone willing to pay £2k let alone £3k for my 63 plate focus with 93,000 miles and a few dents and scratches I got my car in 2018 (originally finanace but paid off early for ownership) and a look just now on autotrader for the model/year in similar current condition indicates it’s only lost 15% value. My insurance went up a lot last year, I called to try and negotiate it down and they said it is because my 2006 Golf is now worth an extra 30% on it’s value last year. What’s worse is if you try sell your car as part exchange they try to rinse you… Then are selling the same car you have for way higher Supply and demand. Ever since Covid hit and caused a semi-conductor shortage globally people have been keeping their cars for longer. This massively increased the prices for second hand cars. Then we had the high inflation crisis which pushed up the price of new cars. My wife bought a brand new car 2yrs ago and that same car today would cost £10k more than she paid then.

I agree. I saw an early 2000s mondeo around a garage near work for 3k.
