I actively avoid evangelicals (as much as I can) because if they aren’t actually a molester, they’ll hush it up, or accuse the victim, or demand that the offender be forgiven because “Jesus”. It should also be noted that I was raised in the South so evangelical = Southern Baptist even though I’m also aware that there are other evangelical groups elsewhere that are cool (ELCA). I dunno. I think kids shouldn’t be exposed to preachers for their own safety. Far too many of them molest and groom children. The kids should wait until they are adults before being exposed to preachers. I understand that it soured you on evangelicals, but best not to paint a whole group based on the evil that some in that group are responsible for. Sorry you and your siblings went through such a horrific childhood. I think you’re missing the point which is that his entire congregation still accepts him as their pastor in spite of the fact that he’s sexually abused his own children. It’s not just about this one man, but how everyone looks the other way when it comes to his heinous acts. Also not pictured is the fact that evangelicals are quick to demonize LGBT people because their acts are considered sinful, yet give this man a pass because reasons.
