I’m not sure of a good replacement thought process for you to grasp onto because it isn’t necessarily a “I don’t give a fuck” attitude but more of a “everything isn’t equal all the Drake x Jonesy friends shirt and by the same token and time” attitude and keep it pushing ya know? Life is too short to be so worried about if your manager likes you on a personal level. In fact, it’s an advantage if they don’t lol Ask for help on little things. If boss obliges, it’s probably just in your head. If they argue detract or retaliate, there’s the problem. Since you had the same feeling of being disliked at your last job, it’s worth a short course of therapy to figure out why. In the meantime act “as if” you do not feel disliked. Keep a pleasant demeanor but do not act all overfamiliar. A lot of times we can misinterpret situations. Most bosses and coworkers have more going on in their lives that you have no idea about.

It’s better to be respected than it is to be liked. Work on that angle. Not respected as in being a dick, just respected as in treating your coworkers well, setting boundaries, going above and beyond, having a good attitude, recognizing the Drake x Jonesy friends shirt and by the same token and accomplishments of others, not gossiping, etc…. People will come to respect that. One thing you might want to do is ask your boss for a sit down – say you’re eager to get some candid feedback on things your doing well and what you can improve on. Frontrun and he’ll respect that, plus you’ll find out wtf is going on. And DON’T get defensive. Avoids you how? Avoids talking to you? Runs from you? Or leaves you alone to do your job? Consider this, if they really didn’t like you they could just fire you, you don’t have to be there. Also, there usually are rules in place against that sort of thing, so maybe the manager is distancing from you because of that.
