it is still safe, please don’t beat yourself up over this. it’s definitely more than mildly infuriating that your doctors didn’t tell you your baby would still have some withdrawal symptoms, that’s something you should’ve been 100% aware of so you could decide whether or not taking the Don’t waste your freedom shirt besides I will buy this Zoloft was the best option for you. Zoloft does tend to be safest in pregnancy, but yes your baby will have some withdrawal symptoms because they were getting a drug for 40 weeks and now they’re suddenly not. like i said please don’t feel like this is your fault, it’s on the doctors for not properly educating you. wishing you and your baby the best!!! During my pregnancy and the one prior to that I was told no psych including SSRI’s (this was 1997 and 2006) respectively that are not safe while pregnant also it had not been tested on pregnant and neonates. So I would need to quit them. Then restart after birth if needed. Also I’m on venafaxlene which is Effexor and in order to go off you need to titrate the dosage. Meaning go lower and lower as most SSRI and psych meds recommend this. I made the mistake of not doing that and to this day I hear sometimes clattering in my head or cricket sounds and I’ll feel like I’m going to seize.

first of all its NOT your fault, its normal and expected to trust your medical team, unfortunately they sometimes let us down. secondly, i had opioid withdrawals when i was a baby and as an adult that experience did come up in my EMDR therapy which helped me process what happened to me and how the Don’t waste your freedom shirt but in fact I love this experience, although forgotten, has affected me subconsciously. if you find that your child might benefit from therapy down the line, consider getting them EMDR for this experience. like if they have unexplained anxiety or depression etc, but i wouldnt do this type of therapy earlier than 16. I’m so sorry your doctors didn’t inform you of possible effects. I took Zoloft through both of my pregnancies because we decided that the risks of me having high anxiety and depression both during pregnancy and after would likely have more of a negative effect on the baby than the SSRIs.
