Every time we go out, it’s usually other people’s children that spoil it, with noise or bad behaviour, I’ll manners etc. We really don’t dislike kids in any capacity, but whenever we are in public, they are a walking advertisement for birth control, it’s all seems so exhausting! We’re both in the tech field and have been for well over a decade. We built up significant savings before we had our kid. The cost for the kid (including $20k a year for daycare) is a blip in our budget (were in the top 2% of earners). We still travel a lot, ski, hike, etc, and watching the kid learn and enjoy the same things we do brings us immense joy that money can’t buy. We only wish we did this sooner. I’m 42, partner 39. Both females. I think I’m actually actively grateful every day for not having kids. I really, really don’t want any.
