In Sarajevo last year during Ramadan. I’d never been to a country with a large Muslim population. Then all the characters start coming out of Mickeys house, ALL of them. They are high fixing our daughter, signing her new book and the ones that can talk are talking to us. So cool for the little one, and us. Then Mickey grabs daughter’s hand and walks to the train with her, we all get on the steam train and off we go. We stop for a bit and one of the characters gives us a handful of confetti, we still have no clue. The train starts again, we turn the corner, a band starts playing and the announcer says “here is the Mothers_rent family to open the park” we throw the confetti, hundreds of people cheer and they open the park. Then Mickey takes her hand again and we go around the corner and they take pictures with the family and Mickey. All high fives and off they go. I turn to my daughter and say “that’s the best dad can do” To this day my wife does not complain about me having to be places early. Except dinner parties, but that is a different story.

A couple years back I hiked the milford track and the greenstone caples track in one fell swoop one summer. During the 10 days of hiking as well as the other 10 days of travelling, relaxing and eating in Queenstown and Milford, we got 15 minutes of rain. Uncanny that we lucked out so hard. Thought you do miss some of the waterfalls, a dry hike was pretty nice too
While I was traveling through Egypt, I rented a felucca boat for my birthday because why not? I’ve been on 3 whale watching trips: St Lucia, Cabo San Lucas with no sightings. During today’s trip in Puerto Vallarta, we safely followed a competition pod of 1 female and between 3-5 males for 30 minutes. The males were following a female to get her attention and mate. The female breached a half dozen times. One of the Disney Vacation 2025 Halloween Treats Script Logo Group Trip Shirt and by the same token and newcomer males breached once. Later on, we headed over to shallower waters where, again safely, we kept an eye on two mother/baby pairs. One of the babies came over and tried to get us to play by rolling over and lifting their head out of the water a couple times. We got up graded to the two end water bungalows from our beach bungalows. We had panoramic views out over the sea, glass floors which could light up at night for observing fish. We had a rainbow one day while watching dolphins, another day I spent ages snorkeling under our bungalows watching an octopus feed. Another day we swam with turtles that lived on the house reef. It felt like everyday we had another meet and greet with a wonder of nature. Sharks, rays, dories and nemos. It really was paradise and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to go there. I have never looked out to the ocean and seen so many different colors of blue. The Indian Ocean is exquisite.

Very unfortunate situation, with horrible back pain, but people in line were sharing pastries, a lady had a ukulele and played Christmas songs for everyone, some local boys pushed around a shopping cart with water and Twizzlers, and people were helping each other out and chatting with strangers. I got to see the Christmas spirit in action that day. 17 years old,traveling by train from Calais to Paris at sunset, and reading Hemingway’s Moveable Feast. I fell in love with France and especially Paris at that moment. This was 50 years ago and when I close my eyes it was just yesterday.

Standing five feet away from new earth being formed smoking a blunt is pretty surreal. Has ruined every other volcanic crater or volcano national park since.
