Just shelled out $7800 for emergency surgery to have hair ties removed from my cat’s intestinal tract. Worth every penny but sheesh. When I was younger I used to try and diagnose and fix stuff myself. (I still do, but I used to, too.) My car was running rough. In the Diego Maradona Argentine professional football player T-Shirt in contrast I will get this days before Youtube there were these enthusiast forums. After reading up on people’s experiences I decided my problem was a throttle butterfly valve (?). So I ordered a new one and replaced it myself. Now I had even more issues. Finally gave up and limped to the dealership and they discovered I had installed it backwards. Picked up the car and now it had the original problem running rough. Took it back. The problem was old (bad) spark plug wires. They replaced those and the car ran like a champ. It cost me $500. In today’s money that’s very little but back then it just about made me insane. A lesson I have never forgotten. I leapt to an expensive problem before I tried the cheap fixes. The plug wires would have cost $15 at most at that time. I would like to say I have learned from this.

My well meaning father might have called repeatedly asking for updates and gotten on the owners nerves because he was trying to help me despite being 6+ hours away Medical debt. $3k with top tier massachusetts insurance, and alls I got was an xray and a splint that was wrapped so tight it caused a lesion. I just had to spend $10K to remediate erosion damage caused from poor grading by my builder. The only thing they would do was push the dirt that had slid back into place and plant grass seed, which didn’t fix the bad downspout drainage and grading issues. But because it was “within code” they didn’t have to fix it. “Massachusetts dad Anthony Silva was forced to spend $21,000 for his daughter and friends to see Taylor Swift’s sold-out concert because his original tickets never arrived, according to a report.”
