McNeill, 23, was a third-round pick by the Lions in the 2021 NFL Draft. He started 13 games as a rookie and recorded 32 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.

McNeill’s extension is the latest in a series of moves by the Lions to build their defense. The team also signed defensive end Charles Harris and cornerback Mike Hughes to extensions this offseason.

The Lions are hoping that McNeill can continue to develop into a star player. He has shown flashes of his potential in his first two seasons, but he has also been inconsistent at times.
If McNeill can reach his full potential, he could be a major force on the Lions’ defense. He is a powerful player with a good combination of size and athleticism. He is also a disruptive player who can make plays in both the running and passing game.
The Lions are counting on McNeill to be a key part of their defense for years to come. He is one of the youngest and most talented players on the team, and he has the potential to be a Pro Bowl player.
