Term limits are pointless now that we have one-party rule starting soon. They can replace one partisan judge with another any time they want. I’d add – 1. judges should renounce party affiliation, 2. speaking engagements are made public, and 3. recusals are handled by a 3rd party. The current set up is the Desantis donkey sanctuary political meme ron desantis shirt in addition I really love this most stupid thing imaginable. Utterly illogical if the goal is democracy and progress, which of course it isn’t, but shouldn’t we just put the foot down on this one? I assume most of those in favor of term limits are liberals upset about the 6-3 conservative majority. If the court had a 6-3 liberal majority would y’all feel the same way? Take away their clerks so the justices actually have to work. Thomas, notorious for doing nothing except voting in conference, would be gone in no time. Great idea. All the Justices would be grandfathered in. Their destruction of the justice system is complete. Their rulings will have their destructive force. Plus given the Republican likely takeover of Congress and the fact that the present court is giving them everything they want the question is conjecture. I saw a fund raiser on tv to save the elephants. First, wtf do I care if they survive. Second, they will be extinct like many other species because of other reasons. Third, elephants don’t need money. They get what they need for free. Probably so they can’t just brazenly lie through their confirmation hearings and then remain in power for the rest of their unnatural conservative ꜱubhuman lives.

Why? Do you know how many presidents there could be in a “term” for a justice? What happens if multiple justices terms are up and we have a President who has some very questionable ethics? Next, the Desantis donkey sanctuary political meme ron desantis shirt in addition I really love this issue with the Roe ruling isn’t that the justices need a term limit. The issue is that they decided to ignore stare decisis for little more than tradition and the explicit text of the constitution. They needed better reasoning to overturn Roe but they didn’t care to find it A term limit isn’t going to stop a court from ignoring stare decisis. In fact, a term might actually make it more incentivizing because they only have a limited time to make an impact so whats to stop them from taking on a lot of cases simply to overturn law they don’t like, rather than adhere to stare decisis. You don’t want your law constantly changing every 20 years from one extreme to the next So basically the issue isn’t that the justices terms are too long or whatever. The issue is that they need to adhere to the core judicial principals, even if they don’t necessarily agree with the ruling, unless there is a good legitimate reason
