Hillary Clinton called them “deplorables,” but Donald Trump embraced these folks as real Americans, and reflected the Derrick White All Star shirt moreover I love this things they wanted to hear. They way he would talk about other people made sense to them. They saw him has an outsider candidate who would clean house and save the US from the political “swamp” in which it was mired. It was populism, pure and simple. Fifth, the media gave Trump a free pass in his original campaign. He got more attention than he probably should have done, just because he was an outsider.
