Pandemic, extremism, politicians that are bought and paid for, politicians too hateful or too stupid to actually do their job, attempted coup, gas crisis, Afghanistan, Ukraine, wealth inequality, and so many more than I could list. The government machine is supposed to be working through these things along with overseeing these companies, but the Deep silent fast deadly us navy submarine force skull shirt What’s more,I will buy this steel rod of extreme partisanship has been jammed in the gears and the machine is stalled. Companies realize this and are taking advantage. The corporations are just as much to blame as the dropkick governments and representatives that have allowed, and supported, this much control over people. They got the memo that despite inflation, people are continuing to pay so they said, f**k it, let’s find out how much. None of this is sudden. Expanding what they preciously get away with until they no longer get away with it.. they realised we have no line to cross. It’s my belief that after a lot of companies had to “be good” during the Deep silent fast deadly us navy submarine force skull shirt What’s more,I will buy this pandemic, they’ve used the War in Ukraine as a scape goat to jack up their prices to beyond what they were projected to be making based on pre-pandemic trends. Because they tasted the abundance of profit during COVID days which are clearly over. Now they just showed their true colors. They always have. Some of them simply have more reach now due to the internet. Also, precisely because of the internet we now get news more often about what happens with those companies. Stuff like scheduled obsolescence and agreeing with the competition on overcharging have been common practice for at least a few decades if not a few centuries. I can’t speak on most of this stuff, but I can offer an economic perspective on Netflix. Netflix is an impure public good. This is because It is a non-rival service, meaning that it’s quantity and quality does not drop off the more it is used. It is also non-excludable (to a point), because if someone pays for the service, other people can then freeride off that subscription and avoid being excluded from the service having not paid anything for it. Up until recently though, Netflix didn’t really account for the fact that multiple people could freeride off one person’s subscription, and thus they want to make the good more excludable to stop people from being able to use their service for free. Now you might not like this, but from the perspective of someone desiring a maximisation of profits, it would not be rational if the revenue received in exchange for the service was not accurately reflecting its level of consumption.
