I actually can’t afford my current car if I was to buy one in the Deathmatch princess peach shirt besides I will buy this condition I bought this one in. Cost me 17k back then, a similar age and willisge is now like 23/24k. That’s what this thing was new when if first came out I don’t care about the mileage I don’t care if someone scrapes it Already been on some massive road trips and if and when this one dies I’ll get another shit box Yeah, cars tend to work pretty well for a long time. I’ve never understood this incessant desire to replace your car, which is a tool, every 2 or 3 years. The core message is always, your life will be better/complete, you’ll get to be this kind of person, you’re gonna be so cool….but you have to buy this to get there. It’s quite funny really.

My 2008 ford focus estate with 230k miles is still going strong. Gotta keep going till the chassis literally disintegrates. I really love how much of a swing and a miss that kind of marketing is for me. I know what I’m about. If I had a cool car I’d just look like a wally in it. Clambering out of the thing in the car park at Tesco on a rainy Tuesday. No amount of cool car is gonna give me the cool lifestyle to match it. If I look like a hot mess driving a Peugeot, I’ll look like a hot mess driving a Porsche. I don’t need to spend more money looking like the same hot mess. But…but…what about the shareholders? Why won’t people think about the shareholders? How else will they make money if people aren’t constantly buying new things? How can you be so selfish. I had to replace my car last year as it finally died. Was a total shit box that was slowly dieing for about 2 years. Spent the extra to get a nicer car with mod cons and its night and day. Yeah I’m more concerned about dings, but not too extreme as it’s still not brand new, seems to be a happy medium. It’s also nice not worrying if the car just won’t start one morning, so I wouldn’t go full on shit box unless you’re happy to get your hands dirty on the regular. All I’ve ever owned is shitty sub £2k cars and I have absolutely 0 complaints about them and the overall cost of owning them over the last 10 years
