As someone who has decided to stay single forever and not to marry and adopt kids, how have you been preparing for old age ( read life after 60 )? The inputs around financial planning, relocation, and having healthy lifestyle would be great contributors. What are your contingency plans in terms of having patient care in case you fall ill or get some disease? Details about your present age, gender, profession, financial status, material belongings, and job stability would helpful. Also mention what motivated you to stay single. I’m an aro ace ( aromantic asexual guy )so guess I don’t have a choice. Also how do you deal with loneliness.In my teens and early twenties I really wanted that romantic fantasy, of having someone to fall in love with, cherish and enjoy years together. In my late twenties I was becoming more interested in having SOMEONE period, regardless of long-term relationship goals. Now that I’ve celebrated turning 25 for a fifth time, I’ve realised I prefer my independence and solitary existence than as part of a couple. If someone comes along that’s worth the time, I’m sure we could figure out an amenable situation but I’ve stopped actively chasing for a person and have reconciled with the fact that I’m most likely to lead a life of singledom. I moved to Canada three years ago, and since then have been slowly adding to my savings (apart from the pension that is paid into with my work), and I do have a wee bit of pension in India as well from having worked my early twenties in a bank. My plan is to buy a little cottage/cabin away from the city here in Canada and work till I’m like 60. Then, depending on the savings I think I want to take a break and spend a year away from people and just write, travel and read. And once the body starts to go (my family tends to do well till their late 80s) I either will enrol myself in a seniors home here, or find me a cute little place back home in the mountains of Idukki and hire help to look after me. Whatever’s left after I die will be left to my nephew.
