It was announced before it was clear the Su-57 project would fail, so it might have seemed plausible at the time. In other words, not only are there no T-14 Armatas, there is good reason to suspect that this tank could never have been built with the advertised specifications unless a third party decided to fund it (and even then, it’s not clear the Russians even have the technical knowledge to do it). This is not just bashing on the Russians on the back of their failures in Ukraine. Anyone who was paying attention to military developments could have told you this anytime in the past several years. I admit that, initially, I actually thought Russia would overwhelm Ukraine in a few days by weight of sheer airpower and using their older tanks. But I never thought the Armatas would play a role, because it’s been clear for some time what they had was simply for show and that this tank basically doesn’t exist. Also, it’s not real stealth. The IR camera on the exterior in front of the canopy is not stealth, the engines and the entire rear of the plane are HUGELY not stealth. The panel doors that contain the weapons bay and landing gear have gaps in them that are also not stealth.
