You might be shocked that no one cares. Keep doing it so it’s more normalized for you over time. So, when I decided to stop trying to cover it up. I would just not look in the mirror before I left the house. It was easy to forget if I didn’t see it. I was just like this, I refused to go out with no makeup on, specially as I’ve noticed my face is less elastic(?) than before. But the weather in my country has made it so uncomfortable to wear makeup and since I mostly work online, I decided to stop and it improved my skin so much. there are some great answers in this thread (but remember a good skincare routine will NOT help everyone. topicals do not heal cystic/hormonal/grade 3+ acne) but may i also recommend wearing only concealer to ease into it? i do under the eyes only & many people think i’m wearing foundation when it’s really only under my eyes. follow up with spot concealment & your normal blush/contour/etc.

Honestly after my third kid I kinda just don’t have the ability or time to do it so I quit giving a shit what people thought about my face. Implementing a good skin care routine really helps. I have bad skin but once I started a good routine everything changed and now I only put eyebrows on before leaving and some moisturizer and sometimes a serum or something! I envy people that are comfortable in their own skin. I’m 55 years old and started wearing makeup when I was twelve and had cystic acne. Last week I had my second ever facial. It was amazing. I am probably ancient compared to you but I’m hoping you can break the “foundation” cycle and be comfortable sooner than me. The key to wearing foundation is to have it become part of your skin rather than sit on top of it. Less is more. If you don’t want to invest in a bunch of new foundations you can mix what you have with a moisturizer you like. Do your regular skin care. Let each step fully absorb. Now using a beauty blender mix your foundation with moisturizer and start on any problem areas. Gradually add more moisturizer and less foundation just concentrating on lightly covering areas you want to conceal. Eventually you can eliminate foundation all together. Plus when you do wear foundation try to keep light, with a bit of powder to set and absorb any oil.
