This. I used to have a friend who would “lovingly” shame me constantly for not fitting a feminine standard. “Oh no you haven’t shaved your legs you should shave them tonight, I’ll remind you” “oh no your eyebrows need doing i’ll send you the Dave portnoy claudine gay cg clown shirt in contrast I will get this link to my eyebrow lady” “oh no your nails are so small and messy let’s get you some acrylics.” I told her so many times I just wasn’t interested in that kind of femininity but she wouldn’t accept it, just kept pushing. It made me feel like an alien. On some level I do appreciate what she was trying to do because in her mind she was probably trying to be caring, but it only ever hurt me and she just couldn’t understand when i tried to tell her that The double sexism lol. Yeah, either way it’s stupid to judge somebody for what they do or don’t put on their face. Just let people do what makes them feel comfortable and happy! Exactly! The unspoken expectation that women will take on the Dave portnoy claudine gay cg clown shirt in contrast I will get this emotional labor in a situation. Whether by partners, at work, in day to day society. Everything I read about how women are expected to do “office housework” that’s not compensated or part of their main job (certain administrative tasks, ordering lunch, arranging birthday celebrations, etc) leaves me fuming. Yep. I used to work at a very small law office where I was the only female employee. It was me, the male attorney, and one other assistant (also male). The male assistant and I had the exact same job description, but guess who ended up getting stuck with all the administrative, reception, cleaning, and office management tasks? That’s right, me. Guess who was paid more and got raises more frequently? That’s right, him. This obviously has nothing to do with women reinforcing toxic norms on other women, but it’s meant to show how common these dynamics are in the workplace, even in the 2020s. Thanks, I am too! It was my first ever office job, and it took me a while to realize that I could do better. I still work in the legal field, but these days I stick to firms that are big enough to have an HR department The notion that the bigger your butt/breasts are, the better off you are. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, plenty of those that appreciate, medium, small, and everything in between.
