Honestly this comment is what I needed today. That’s so damn beautiful I’m going to share it with everyone I know. Most of all, though, I’m glad that you didn’t let anyone take advantage of you. But it can be challenging) you did so like a queen. I’m happy for you! That is AWESOME! I know too often we give in to “give me another chance”, and how many times do we just keep seeing a repeated pattern after that? U showed him that u were serious, and ignoring ur ground rules and betraying trust has consequences. I know I’m not the only one here who admires ur strength.. hell yeah, lady!! ? I’m proud of you for speaking up! It can be so difficult even with the most trustworthy partners. My husband has never made me feel bad about anything in the bedroom, and even still it was really hard for me to communicate with him if I needed to end a sexual encounter due to discomfort/pain/just generally not being into it anymore. He would notice that I seemed to not be enjoying anymore, stop, and then have a talk with me about how I needed to tell him if I wanted to stop and that he wouldn’t be mad. And this was without any prior experience to make me feel like I needed to keep going. I’m much better now, three years into marriage, but even still I catch myself hesitating sometimes when I want to stop. It’s awesome that you’re able to stand up for yourself that way.

Everyone here believes that it is in you to set your boundaries. Sometimes they are big, like OP, and sometimes they are small. Sometimes they come out of nowhere and sometimes one has to work at building up that assertiveness. I think it’s great that you actually stopped, because so often a woman will tell a man to stop doing something, but then two minutes later he does it again and she finally just gives up and lets him do it. Stopping sex actually gave him consequences so that he’ll think twice before doing it again. Edit: And the jerks saying “hOw WaS hE tRuStEd tHeN?” are being judgmental and making a lot of assumptions about something that has VERY little detail. Maybe he was respecting boundaries before but when you wanted something(s) different, he disrespected that for whatever (not good) reason. The point of your post is that you stood up for yourself. Who gives a fuck about the past? What you did NOW is what’s important by putting yourself and your needs first. Good on you. That’s how it should be.
