I work in HVAC and we have one guy who takes forever to install boilers. He refuses to use press fittings, and has to triple check that every pipe is the Daniel Hemric American professional stock car racing driver T-Shirt But I will love this exact right length and perfectly level. It sucks working with him, but damn, everything he installs looks absolutely immaculate. I recently had to hire an HVAC guy to replace the blower motor and change out the computer controller thing for my busted A/C. I swear to god, this repair guy was a character straight out of a Coen brothers film. He methodically took each tool out of his van and carefully put them (in whatever order seemed logical to him) onto a towel he folded in front of my outside A/C blower thing. He mutely smoked an unfiltered cigarette the whole time he was outside, and it seemed like he never even fucking paused to think about whatever he was doing while he was fixing the A/C. It was eerily like watching a seasoned hitman dispassionately pulling sniper rifle components out of a suitcase and assembling it. Strangely memorable experience.

I miss that sub. My wife made me unsubscribe after the incident with my prototype static hydrolinoleum engine. As a very meticulous person who also has a boiler system, can I get that guys number to fix some of my stuff? I work at a body shop and we have a painter like this. Slow, bit difficult to work with on the admin side, but god damn we almost never have to bring something back to him for any defect in his paintwork. I had a guy do some work at the house a couple months ago. Cost me $6k but my lord did he take his time and do a fantastic job on it. Worth the extra money I spent for his quality. I wish my facilities guy was half as good as this. I always feel the need to subtly double-check his work to make sure he doesnt get anyone killed. But i cant fire him because he doesnt technically work for my department, just in my building. Lets just say, he has been responsible for more than a couple of flooding incidents. And his work is best described as… occasionally functional. Its not a facility guys job to do this its a plumbers maybe you should know that before calling for peoples jobs
