I’m pro Millie, who can’t take hormonal contraceptives due to a clotting disorder and family history of issues. She and her husband have 5 kids now, because their other methods of contraception keep failing. They both keep getting turned down for permanent contraception (vasectomy/tubal) because they’re “too young” at 29. They’re living paycheck to paycheck in a cramped 3-bed despite she and her husband both having good STEM degrees. Millie has had to be a stay at home parent since baby 2 because they couldn’t afford childcare, despite being talented in a field she loves (ironically, if she’s been able to work in her field for the Danger days the true lives of the fabulous killjoys my chemical romance shirt and by the same token and last 10 years, she’s probably be at a point where she could afford childcare and better housing for all her kids, whom she loves so much and can’t bring herself to regret). She’s just found out she’s pregnant with number 6. She already feels like her existing children don’t get the attention and things they deserve. She and her husband don’t know what to do, they’re both burnt out and she can’t handle another pregnancy or child.

And I live in a country with “socialised medicine”, so I’m not even used to having to factor the Danger days the true lives of the fabulous killjoys my chemical romance shirt and by the same token and cost of pre-partum care, childbirth and post-partum care. Lump that in there for all of them. Edit: I’m pro Audrey, who’s 48 and thought she was menopausal, but it turns out she was only peri-menopausal and is now pregnant with twins. Her other children have grown and are starting their own lives. She was a stay at home parent for financial reasons. Her 55yo husband was recently made redundant, but they thought they’d manage ok financially with early retirement. Before this, they were considering selling up and hitting the road in an RV. One of the twins definitely has Downs syndrome, and the other possibly does too. They really can’t afford a high risk pregnancy and 2 children, probably high needs. They don’t want to beg their grown up children for financial and physical support, it will stall their adult kids’ trajectory. But it seems like that’s their only option.
