The idea is terrifying but most of the things we as non-nuclear physicists know is based off of works of fiction, not objective facts. While I agree that nuclear war would most likely spiral out of control and leave the entire planet uninhabitable for humans (if not all multi-cellular life), you have no idea what you are talking about regarding the scale of what it would actually take. Each of those “tests” either were actual weapons detonations or were equivalent to them (in the Damn right I am a Tar Heels fan now and forever shirt Besides,I will do this case of, at least, the US and USSR testing some of them, like the Tsar Bomba and Castle Bravo, were MASSIVELY larger than any actual production weapons). 10-100 nukes certainly wouldn’t be good for anyone in the immediate area but they wouldn’t do shit to the world as a whole. Most of those were detonated in isolated areas and many underground. If the world really goes crazy and launches everything, you’re going to have a lot more spread. I seriously doubt everyone would die, but all it really takes is enough keystone species wiped out or nearly wiped out and we have an even bigger issue than we do now.
