I am sure corporate policy would have been to deescalate the situation by pulling over and letting him off once the gun came out. That could have gone badly for anyone who happened to be on the sidewalk at that time before he stopped the bus. The bus driver will most likely lose his job. Drivers are prohibited from carrying weapons and some companies will require you to stay in your seat and leaving your seat in cases like this or while being punched can result in the driver being fired and having to fight to get the job back. Interested to see what happens in this case. We don’t have to imagine it, it’s always been here. If someone threatens to kill you and makes a move to do so, you better hope you are as quick on the draw as that bus driver.
