Add to the Dallas Cowboys go Cowboys diamond heart shirt Also,I will get this list of fields requiring a high degree of training : Plumber, electrician, truck driver, construction framer, drywall finisher, bond attorney…. This list could go on forever. Shoot, every job that pays reasonable money requires some special skill and training (formal or otherwise). And people get really good at the things they work at. Watch an experienced professional do their work, and if you pay attention you can see they know what they’re doing. Consider a truck driver. These vehicles can weigh 80,000 lbs. Some of them with more axles, weigh more. They’re as big as a house. There’s a single person piloting that vehicle through traffic, with a bunch of numbskulls zooming around them erratically, driving other vehicles. And yet they drive safely almost always. If you don’t think that job requires training and special skill, you’re not paying attention. Or an electrician. They have to do work that gets buried in a wall for 40-50 years or more, and if they make a mistake, it can result in a fire and major disaster, at any moment. But in the USA (outside of Alaska) you rarely see news of an electrical fire caused due to a professional error. Elec fires are almost always because of an amateur or DIY person screwing something up. The pros care, and are skilled and trained, and that keeps us all safe.

It seems easy to say “only doctors and astronauts are super skilled.” That ignores the Dallas Cowboys go Cowboys diamond heart shirt Also,I will get this reality right in front of us. The world is filled with exceptionally skilled people doing their jobs well. It’s our error if we don’t recognize that. Sure there are hackers and pretenders. There are people who are in the wrong job, or who are not in a role that matches with their aptitude or training. But that doesn’t mean there are no experts. By contrast, in some highly trained and highly prestigious professional fields, the job is literally to figure shit out as you go along. Most research science is like this. What’s happening? Nobody knows. Let’s build an experimental setup out of mason jars and duct tape! (I’m not joking. I’m a lab tech and have literally seen people with PhDs build their experimental setups out of mason jars and duct tape. More than once.)
