Obviously a lot of variables when it comes to insurance but mine went from £950 to £1900 with no changes on my end. 9 years NCB, no convictions or claims. I’ve never renewed a policy in my life but this time around it was the Dad BBQ Smoke show shirt but in fact I love this cheapest but I don’t recall alternative being a massive increase, nowhere near what others have mentioned. I think my location must play a decent part in my quotes, as I’m fairly out of the way in a rural location, relatively low crime etc… We’re looking at renewing, 16 years no claims, gone from £750 last year to £1400 minimum this year lol. It’s kind of insane. Take a look at Aviva, we shop around every year to get the best price and they have come out the cheapest and better than what we paid last year for the cheapest then. Quite a few mention Aviva here and car forums since the price rises as being decently priced. Also we bought it via topcashback which means our insurance came out to less than £170 for the year on a 4×4. (We aren’t old phogies but we have been driving now 18 years and full NCD etc). Anecdotal I know, but I’ve just had my Aviva renewal notice and they’ve quoted me £20 LESS for this year vs last year. I’d been dreading it going up or doubling given what basically everyone has been experiencing recently. For me it was Churchill, surprisingly since I made a claim but protected it. Still went up £130 for the year but cheaper than the rest.

Have just bought a new car (new to me, eye wateringly expensive for second hand) it’s a bigger engine and ‘flashier’ than the Dad BBQ Smoke show shirt but in fact I love this old car, insurance £5 a month more than current with Aviva Mine has hardly changed either. Existing insurer tried to put it up by about 200 quid. Shopped around, got it for around 50 more than last year. I saw a graph and rates for the under 30’s have gone up ENORMOUSLY, for those in their 30’s much less but still and increase, but for those 40 and over it a lot less. We had that when my wife traded in her car in December, Ford and another garage offered the same trade in value, but Ford tried to do the pressure tactic of “I can only hold that price until the end of today as a manager special” – needless to say she went and did the deal with the significantly less pushy salesman at the other garage.
