My wife used to work night shifts, she hated because, as others have stated, you just work an extra hour for free. When you cross a time zone during the day or night, they time is always shifted at night and each watch moves the ships clocks 20 minutes. I was salaried so I worked the extra hour. Based on our schedule, the same shift would be the one that gets to work the night when the clock jumps forwards, so it would even out eventually. Doctors already work extra hours (80-100 hrs/wk) without getting compensated for it, what does one extra hour matter. At my job those people work 9 hours and get an hour of overtime, or if there is enough overlap with the day shift, they can work 8 hours and go home an hour “early” I used to work the graveyard at McDonald’s. You watch it change, be sad about it, work the extra hour and get paid for it and hope you get overtime because whoever scheduled you didn’t account for the extra hour you worked lol If your kitchen forgets it was gonna happen and you’re the first to realize the time shift happened, you also get to die a bit inside! And then you get to tell the rest of your crew and watch them also die a bit inside. We did get paid for it though, our time punch software even specifically pointed out when an employee was clocked in during a time change.

Having flashbacks to the Cowboys From Hell Popover Shirt Apart from…,I will love this time Halloween fell on a Saturday, and the time change was the same day. I worked at a wing joint in a college town, near the busy bars. God, that night was my least favorite day working in restaurants of the 14 years I worked in restaurants. I just did this. I turned the clock back from 2 to 1 with tears in my eyes. Worked the 1 o’clock hour all over again. Got paid for a 13 hour shift instead of 12 tho When I worked 3rd shift years ago, I would get one hour of OT added to my check during fall back and I would just work 39hrs in spring when we jumped forward and lost and hour. We just buckle down and work an extra hour, feels weird but we just do it, technically our manager said we could leave early, but most people just stick it out
