They don’t. Kids often choose to leave home to go to college, and look forward to it. Lots of them talk about their kids being a burden, a ruiner of dreams, etc. They probably had kids cause religion/society and are bitter. Mine certainly fit this category, was kicked out at 16 for being queer Nuclear family model pushed during the Cold War… most of the world didnt fall for such nonsense but Americans really got high on their own supply

Americans do not kick out their kids at 18 – if you look at the stats, over the last decade, there are more multigenerational households in the US than ever before. Because American culture in the 60s on sold the idea of splitting up families so that developers could sell more new homes across the booming United States. It sold the idea that if you didn’t own your own house as a young adult then you were a failure. Up until this point it seems like every culture was rooted in 3 generations living together. Explanation: “It was how my parents done it, so I’ll do the same” -> 18, kicked out, needs to work to support self -> work / school = loans -> trade school to make it quick / college for better pay but greater loans -> get job buy house -> next 10-30 years stuck in work like a slave to pay back mortgage and student loans taken while attempting to live with everyday everymonth expenses. (Modern enslavement for all because just 1 race wasn’t enough for USA)
