I see the procedure as just a formality, just as simple as awaiting for a food order to arrive or queueing up at the store (although, that’s a bad example—standing in a queue flares me up but getting my bloods taken is a walk in the park compared to standing still). I get called in, and I sit relaxed in the chair, relax my arm until they tell me to clench my fist (gets the veins to pop up), they do the tourniquet and I watch my clinically stretchy skin get all wrinkled from it, then I watch them prep the needle. By this point, I’m moving my feet slowly to keep the blood from pooling in my legs. Then, I just keep up with the slow and steady breathing, and I watch.
