Put on a colony without a queen, it’s normal to see in honey farms. Without a queen the Colin Castleton American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers T-Shirt in addition I really love this bee’s productivity is a way worse (in extreme cases the whole colony will die) The queen is the one who lay eggs. Normal bees can’t lay eggs, but if they do, will give male bees. This will disrupt the whole colony over time Not a great plan though. The workers are killing that queen for a reason. Sometimes it’s because there’s a competing queen but usually it’s because the queen is no good anymore. Queens only last about 3 years before the hive replaces them and when the hive is replacing a queen it’s best to just let them get on with it. Termite queens can live up to 50 years in good conditions. The Queens of social insects generally live an extremely long time

Most bees only last a couple months at the Colin Castleton American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers T-Shirt in addition I really love this high end. But wild queens will last up to 3 years. I understand many domestic beekeepers will deliberately re-queen earlier, when the colony is still viable but not producing at the same rate as a younger queen would. The channel this is from tends to try to paint everything as super dramatic and important for her social media videos. Most notably, if you’re actually worried about bees in the US, you should be worried about native bees, not invasive European/African bees. These are solitary bees like carpenter bees, not hive-living honey-making bees like most people think about. In the post was told that they was killing that queen because another queen was raised, not because it was a bad queen. Obviously my comment was a general answer about the guy above, if someone is truly into beekeeping, this post is not the place to go after keeping tips, there’s places made specially for that haha The video even states that this happens when the queen is not laying eggs, or is an imposter from another hive. Both of these are examples where letting the queen survive is worse for the overall hive.
