Went to a different doctor and he ordered an MRI. Looks like I have a grade 2 spondylolithesis with my vertebrae fractured. I have so many stories of doctors not listening to me. It’s so aggravating! I was at a pretty highly specialised neurologist who ran a “stick” under my foot and asked “does it feel normal” now I have always been wheelchairbound, so I have NO idea what is considered normal or not in a “normal” body. So I had no way of answering besides “it felt like a small piece of wood being run under my foot” Went to a doc for chronic back pain that was beginning to radiate down my left leg. While I was describing my condition, I asked him straight up if there were any tests or scans that could be done to find the cause. His reply was that he wasn’t going to give me drugs. I guess he wasn’t listening, but that really rubbed me the wrong way. I reexplain what’s going on and mention that my younger brother was diagnosed with early onset degenerative disc disorder. He laughs and says that nobody under 50 has that. (I know he does, because he had multiple surgeries to help with the pain.) Two doctors later (multiple referrals), a couple of useless PT sessions, and I finally land in a pain management clinic where I’m diagnosed with… You guessed it, early onset degenerative disc disease. Now, mine was probably caused by doing stupid shit in the military, repeatedly. But holy fuck, all I wanted was an MRI and some useful treatment.
