Can you find your self? Is it your arm? Foot, If you lost your arm and foot, would you still be yourself? Is it your brain? Where is it. Is it imaginary? The body is real, the Cleveland indians Cleveland browns mash up logo shirt In addition,I will do this brain is real, but the self is a projection. You would see this better with meditation experience because meditation slows down the mind enough to see how this all transpires. If you investigate into your self, you’ll notice that you cannot find the doer behind the actions or thinker behind your thoughts. So you’re communicating with the thoughts, but referring to something else when you say “you?” Don’t you find that a bit odd? Shouldn’t you be referring to the thing you’re communicating with as “you?” You know what I mean? Like you’re communicating with all these thoughts, and then you momentarily address some other entity that apparently exists over here. There are several ways to look at this. When I address you, I’m referring to your thoughts themselves. Why? Because your sense of I is created by your thoughts and nothing else. Most of your thoughts refers to an entity I (most, because there can be thoughts that does not refer to your self), we can call them thoughts with a self tag (eg: I’m this person, This pen is mine, I should drink water etc.) Because we think in terms of language, and language inherently requires at least one subject, these self thoughts (or ego) creates an illusion that self (or the subject of the self thought) actually exists. And because our consciousness have a property/capacity for knowing, it mistakes or misidentifies this subject/pointer I as being itself. For a scientific perspective into self, look into topics like Default Mode Network ( DMN) in the brain, Ego death from using psychedelics, Evolution of neocortex and the sense of self.

Are our thoughts real? Surely they are. So then, why would a construct of thoughts be any less real than the Cleveland indians Cleveland browns mash up logo shirt In addition,I will do this thoughts themselves? Emergent properties are arguably even more real than their basic components. How does Buddhism account for the phenomenologically evident ‘feeling like a person’ that most people have? Sure, we can experience “witness consciousness” and dissociate from the contents of our mind, but why would we value that experience as somehow more real than the other 99% of experiences felt by most people? This is my opinion about thoughts: Thoughts are words, I learned overtime that words are tools. These tools can be useful or hurtful. They are the catalysts of some situations, persuasions, lies and insults as well as, in a limited degree, of empathy, expression, judgement and reasoning.
