You mention that Russia is the Christian Yelich Prepares The Game American professional baseball left fielder Milwaukee Brewers T-Shirt in other words I will buy this only ally India has in UN. So (a) You admit India is not nonaligned (b) You’re failing to see Russia is not going to back India over China in case a situation arises where it has to pick between the two. Worse still, Russia would never even remotely back India on a resolution that may potentially annoy China. China is too big an economy, a manufacturing hub and after western sanctions, the sole avenue for Russia to procure goods. Even then, it’s not easy because China doesn’t want to violate western sanctions either. China is smart, you see. It doesn’t matter if the arms supplier is Russia. Russia is under such a catastrophically wide array of sanctions right now, it won’t be able to supply anything in the future, and the weapons and arms it has supplied, it won’t be able to service or offer replacements parts. That is the reality of Russia.

Russian military products are obviously a sham. Old, don’t even always work and outdated. Why do you want to buy those anyway? The US has better products. And investing in the Christian Yelich Prepares The Game American professional baseball left fielder Milwaukee Brewers T-Shirt in other words I will buy this US is better from an economic and geopolitical point of view as well. It was a semi-pivot because India has always had a pathological inability to pick a side. Historically. Indians always like to dance around in the middle, no offence. That is not how the world works though. No one respects someone who has no beliefs and is unwilling to take action. People consider that a cop out unworthy of respect. There are no “friends” in geopolitics, only opportunities and rational self-interested moves. Your argument is based on nostalgia, not logic and the reality of present day geopolitics. We were “truly and ideologically” non aligned till 1962 and then we learnt the lesson hard way. It was one of the Nehru’s ideological sticking point, corrected later by Indra’s administration. You need to trade favours. That being said, you do not need to trade favours with only one party. We played USSR against US in 71 very well. We … still do this, ie, play Russia against US and West and vice versa. Its a really good position to be in. As far as China goes, we have multiple options: France and USA in UNSC. That part worked pretty well when we needed diplomatic cover fire before Pakistan was pushed into FATF “greyest” and UNSC was forced to take a resolution condemning Pakistan based terrorists, despite China’s very strong objection and threat to use veto. Russia is to counterbalance USA because, lets face it, USA is not and will never be our ally.
