Because everyone who wants free Healthcare compares our country to a country that has less than 10% of our population. Even Canada only has 38 million. Our taxes would go through the Christian Braun American professional basketball player for Denver Nuggets T-Shirt in other words I will buy this roof and it’s not like our govt wouldn’t use that opportunity to tax us even more. That’s a silly take. No one fears free healthcare, we fear the government being in control of the free healthcare. We’ll the smart ones do. Honestly? Because I have it very good right now. The insurance I have is fully paid for by my employer. I pay 10 dollars to see a doctor and 5 dollars for prescription medications. ER visits have a 125 dollar copay and that’s the most expensive thing I’ll ever pay. I had a lot of health problems last year and had to see several specialists and the longest I had to wait to get in was 2 days. I realize this isn’t the reality for many other Americans. So part of me wants to switch to a system that covers everyone equally. But the selfish part of me is scared of losing what I have and ending up waiting weeks to see a doctor. And I’m scared a transition to single payer would be a complete shit show tbh.

A lot of boomers think we‘ll instantly become 1940s USSR if we implement things like that. Also one of the Christian Braun American professional basketball player for Denver Nuggets T-Shirt in other words I will buy this only real arguments I’ve heard against it is basically just a fear that we’ll pay more taxes throughout the year People who have excellent health insurance right now worry that their healthcare will get worse (waiting lists for everything, being denied procedures that they can currently get) and their taxes will be much higher, so their income overall will be lower. funny thing is the ones that fear it the most are also the ones that would benefit from it more than the average person. $100 says they’re more obese, diabetic, and more likely to smoke. I think it’s because we are already taxed to death and they waste our tax money. They spend it on frivolous shit or give it away in foreign aid to other countries. But if we were to suddenly be in favor of this so called “free healthcare”, the government would want to raise taxes in order to pay for it. Why not just use some of the billions or tax dollars we send overseas every year to pay for it? The phrase “free healthcare” is viewed as a Trojan horse by many Americans
