Scams: Like many tourist destinations, there are locals looking to make a quick buck. Some Thai people try to scam foreigners. Seriously? And when i tried to leave and use a bike taxi, the guy asked for 1000THB for a 10mins ride. These are 2 examples among many other ones. Don’t fall for it. Coworking Spaces: I was sold on the idea that KP IS a digital nomad hub. In reality, i found it not that great. I went to supposedly one of the best coworking of the islands (R&D la casa). It only has a small room, wifi is a bit spotty, chairs are squeaky, you can’t use the call rooms more than 1 hour at a time, and you pay 300THB per day. Sorry, that’s not a good deal. I ended up staying at home. All the other cafes I tried were full of those annoying tourists, or with horrible seating conditions for working.

Parties: I touched a bit on that previously. I tried 2 parties: Oxa Beach and Samsara. Be mindful that I’m not very picky regarding electronic music, but I like darker styles. I found both of those parties pretty meh. A mix of annoying people, boring music and overpriced drinks. Food isn’t that great: There ARE some good spots, but on average i found food to be pretty disappointing, especially in those big food courts. The east side of the island would have been better. guys bar is great! surprisingly, “jungle party” is also good. This. Koh Phangan has weekly tourist rushes for the half/full/quarter moon parties, where (mostly) Westerners come out to do drugs and party and be annoying. But that stuff is mostly concentrated on the west and south of the island. There are chiller vibes to the north and east.
