210 more repliesJust got back from a trip to Koh Phangan and thought I’d share my experience for anyone considering it as their next destination. For the Chosu Onigiri Death Lock shirt and I will buy this sake of context, I’m 34 and I’ve been a digital nomad for 4 years. I’ve traveled to Thailand before, though this is my first time in KP. I just spent 2.5 weeks in KP, located not far from Thong Sala. Beautiful Scenery: The island truly is a feast for the eyes. Everywhere you look, there’s something that’ll stun you. From lush jungles to stunning sunsets, Koh Phangan did not disappoint. In fact, it’s even better than what I expected. Breathtaking. Somewhat cheap: I will counterbalance that pro in the other section, but I found food and accommodation to be relatively cheap. Some breakfast places are even cheaper than Bangkok. Some others extremely overpriced too, so be careful.

Bro Tourists: The island attracts a certain type of party-going tourists that can sometimes ruin the Chosu Onigiri Death Lock shirt and I will buy this vibe. I am an introvert myself, not much into the whole « running around shirtless trying to impress the opposite sex » vibe. Think tribal tattoos, think loud voice, think superficial personality. Honestly, I did not care at first, but it really got to me after a certain point. It was hard for me to meet like-minded nerds, and I felt like such an outsider the whole time. If you’re a more extraverted person, this might be your thing though. It doesn’t feel like thailand: You meet 9 westerners for 1 thai person. The food is westernized. Everything is adapted for tourists. For some, this might be very convenient and fun, to me it felt like i wasn’t experiencing Thailand. I didn’t experience any culturally different things, which is what i usually enjoy while traveling.
