So “Gotcha” thinks blaming the Chihuahua Music and Coffee shirt and I love this perp works better to reduce suffering in the victim than figuring out a way to get past trauma? We all have an inner child, it’s your job to help heal them instead of adding to their suffering. You have the capability to be the adult that they didn’t have. Toxic positivity does exist. I have ME/CFS bedbound, brain fog, pain etc. I more so like the philosophy that there is two types of suffering the suffering from our circumstances and the suffering from how we react from our circumstances. Mindfulness and meditation can help me react to my suffering and this suffer less but I’m still suffering. “All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts.” Dhammapada

I doubt it occurs to most people that they could control their minds. Someone who’s angry or upset, even if they’re miserable, is not going to react well to being told that they don’t have to be that way, that they only think they do. In fact they’re likely to argue in favor of their misery, saying so and so did this or said that, or such and such happened, and therefore they have no choice but to feel the Chihuahua Music and Coffee shirt and I love this way they do. In theory at least, we are free to think whatever we want, or not to think anything at all. The natural condition of the mind is clarity and openness, like empty space. But that original clear awareness gets lost under the weight of habitual reactions and patterns of thinking that have been acquired over time.
