In my experience these people are the Chasing Unicorns Shirt it is in the first place but most frequent liars, and are not willing to have a productive conversation. OMG, horrible story about this. I had a coworker who loved that expression and used it all the time. I was on vacation and found a rounded river rock with “it is what it is” engraved in the stone at a gift shop and got it for her. When I got back she was out of the office and I left it on her desk. The next week she came back to work to tell us all she had stage three ovarian cancer and there was my gift sitting on her desk. Ugh. I don’t mind this one depending on the circumstances. I say it to myself to just acknowledge it’s something I don’t like, but can’t change. Every person I’ve ever met who says this out loud doesn’t mean “I’m direct with people, within reason, because it’s easier on them in the long run and saves awkwardness in the future.”

“I have no ability to filter myself and lack the Chasing Unicorns Shirt it is in the first place but ability to empathise with the emotions or experiences of others. I WILL tell you “everything dies” when you tell me your cat you loved deeply died 2 hours ago. I WILL tell you “You can’t let that affect your whole life.” when you confide in me and tell me you were sexually assaulted twice by your ex as well as being mistreated by nearly every man in your life. And when I ‘tell somebody like it is’ and they are reasonably upset with me for being an apathetic, selfish cunt, I WILL tell them to their face that I think it’s funny how angry they’re getting at me just because they don’t wanna hear the truth. I’ve dealt with somebody like this recently and yes im clearly still bitter about it. A lack of empathy is such a red flag for me.
