My parents kicked both brothers out around that time (though, to be fair they got in to trouble and pissed my parents off too many times) but here’s the important part, after they learned their lesson – a few years struggling- they apologized to my parents and they let my brothers move back in until they were more stable. My parents never kicked me out, and I chose to leave at 28 after saving up to buy a house. My sister did a similar thing until she got engaged and her and her (then) fiance bought a house.

But why did those parents even have kids if they didn’t want them? Social pressure, legal battles and religious upbringing. A woman from a highly Christian conservative family gets pregnant, she would be shunned for having an abortion – so she has the Charlie Chan Shirt and by the same token and kid and regrets it, leading to resentment. She can’t give up her kid for adoption for a similar reason and she’d be an outcast from her family and community for casting her own child away. Furthermore, some parents never get to a stable place and kick the 18 year olds out because they’re drowning in debt and can’t afford to continue feeding and housing them. Parents kicked out their kids because they never wanted children just babies. the moment that baby grows they slowly resent their children and then they start treating them as adults at 16 reminding them they’ll need a job soon because they are gonna be kicked out only to take half the check for “rent” not leaving them anything but pocket change to save with. And when they turn 18 it’s either pay more than what you did at 16 or be kicked out. Sometimes they just kicked them out. parents realized they don’t want to be parents until it’s too late.
